Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician, Associate of Applied Science

The Pharmacy Technician Associate of Applied Science program at SLCHC combines general education courses with applied training modules, including:

  • Pharmaceutical terminology
  • Recordkeeping
  • Pharmacology practices
  • Pharmacy procedures
  • Calculations and conversion in measurements

This hybrid approach will equip our students with a solid grasp of the fundamentals of pharmacy standards and pharmaceutical care. Additionally, graduates of our Pharmacy Technician program are trained to understand the reaction between the human body and medications, process insurance claims, package and label orders, and maintain and monitor inventory.

Graduate Opportunities

Our Pharmacy Technician AAS program produces graduates who are in high demand throughout the pharmaceutical industry. Our students go on to obtain roles in:

  • Retail pharmacies
  • Hospitals
  • Home healthcare settings
  • Mail order or pharmaceutical wholesale settings

SLCHC graduates are eligible to apply for approval to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Exam and may apply for the Missouri Pharmacy Technician Licensure.

PTCB Certification

SLCHC graduates of the Pharmacy Technician, AAS program will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to apply for approval to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Exam and will obtain their State Pharmacy Technician Licensure.
