Patient Care Technician
Patient Care Technician, Associate of Applied Science
Students pursuing our two-year Associate of Applied Science Patient Care Technician program will be given an advanced level of education in patient records, electronic medical records, and patient billing and coding. Additionally, we offer hands-on training for technical skills, including:
- Patient assessment
- Development and implementation of care plans
- Obtaining vital signs
- Drawing blood (phlebotomy)
- Taking electrocardiograms (EKGs)
- Supporting a team in the overall care of a patient
Our Associate degree program will equip students with the skills they need to move into supervisory or medical administrative positions.
Graduation Opportunities
Graduates of the Patient Care Technician AAS program may seek employment opportunities in hospitals, home health settings, assisted living facilities, long-term care centers, adult day cares, rehabilitation facilities, and physical/occupational therapy clinics.
Certifications
Upon successful completion of the Patient Care Technician courses and practicum, PCT students will be eligible to apply for approval to take the Certified Nurse Assistant examination. PCT students may also have opportunities to work towards qualifying to apply for approval to take the Phlebotomy Certification.
